Frederic Debusseré is a partner at Timelex, a Brussels-based boutique law form specialised in technology, data, intellectual property and unfair competition law.He has extensive experience in drafting various types of IT contracts, such as regarding the development, implementation, licensing and distribution of software and technology, and litigating about failed complex IT projects. He is also specialised in drafting contracts and litigating about intellectual property law, trade secrets, and unfair competition. He is also an expert in technology and data law. He advises clients and handles disputes about their rights and obligations under the EU Data Act, the GDPR, and legislation on digital services (EU Digital Services Act), cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, product safety, and consumer protection.
Frederic has been a member of the Dutch-Speaking Brussels Bar Association since 2001. Prior to joining Timelex in 2012, Frederic worked 9 years at the international law firm Stibbe in Brussels. In 2004, he worked in the Licensing Practice Group of the US law firm Fenwick & West LLP in Silicon Valley (California, US).
He obtained his law degree from the University of Leuven (Belgium) and Northwestern University (Chicago, US) in 2001, a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Stanford Law School (Palo Alto, US) in 2004, and a Master in IP Law from the University of Brussels in 2009. He obtained a certificate on implementing the ISO/IEC 27001 standard for information security management systems from the BSI Group (2024). He also obtained a certificate from the CEPANI Arbitration Academy.
