Pierre de Bandt’s practice focuses on Belgian and European regulatory (e.g. competition, free movement and regulated sectors) and economic law. He is a member of the Brussels Bar.His broad practice and expertise cover complex litigation both before the European Court of Justice and the national courts. He also specialises in the development of legal strategy for companies and public authorities, including within the context of litigation and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
Pierre has published numerous books and articles in the area of Belgian and European law and is regularly invited to speak at seminars. After ten years as its editor-in-chief, he is currently the manager of "Tijdschrift voor Belgisch Handelsrecht", a major Belgian legal review.
Pierre studied law at the Catholic University of Leuven (1992) and worked as an academic assistant at the Department of Economic law at the same university (1993). He also obtained postgraduate degrees at the University of Brussels (Business Administration, 1994), the University of Chicago (LL.M., 1995) and King’s College (EC Competition law, 1999). He began his career as a lawyer in 1995, in Washington, and subsequently in Brussels. From July 1999 to June 2004 he worked as a référendaire (legal secretary) to the Hon. Judge J. Azizi at the General Court of the European Union. He is a founding partner of the law firm.
