Koen Van den Broeck is a partner in the dispute resolution team and has over 30 years of expertise in domestic and international arbitration (CEPANI, ICC, LCIA, ad hoc), both as counsel and arbitrator.He regularly acts as an arbitrator (sole arbitrator, chair of the arbitral tribunal or co-arbitrator) in
domestic and international, institutional and ad hoc arbitrations (CEPANI, ICC, LCIA, NAI, UNCITRAL, ad hoc).
He arbitrates disputes across various jurisdictions, including Belgium, the US, Canada, Italy, France,
Netherlands, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Spain, Germany, Austria, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark and UK.
He regularly acts as legal expert both in foreign court proceedings and international arbitration.
He is also admitted as third-party decider in commercial disputes, a member of CEPANI and member of the working group Arbitration and Construction.
Koen guides clients through all stages of the arbitral process, including drafting arbitration agreements, selecting arbitrators, conducting proceedings and enforcing awards. His practice includes enforcement proceedings of national and international arbitration awards before Belgian courts as well as setting-aside proceedings. He also has extensive experience in assisting clients in mediation processes.
Koen has published several books and articles on commercial agency and distribution and franchising; European cross-border insolvency; evidence in international arbitration; confidentiality in arbitration proceedings.
For over 20 years, he has been widely recognised by leading directories as a top litigator and has 'a stellar reputation' for his expertise in liability claims and corporate disputes.
