CEPANI annual colloquium 2026 : Mastering the Clock - Time in International Arbitration

Urgency – Expedited Proceedings – Time Limits – Efficiency – Due process

Practical information

Programme

In international arbitration, time is key. This year’s CEPANI colloquium will explore the role of time in arbitration proceedings from multiple perspectives. The programme starts with a discussion on the availability of urgent measures, both before and during proceedings, including the increasing use of emergency arbitration in recent years. Next, we will focus on tools for enhancing efficiency in arbitration, whether through effective case management techniques or the use of expedited procedures. In addition, speakers will examine time limits at various stages of the arbitration—during the proceedings, for the issuance of the award, and following the award—as well as the consequences of non-compliance. We will conclude the day with a view from the users, as a panel of in-house counsel and senior executives will share their views on the importance and practical management of time in arbitration.

All topics will be addressed from a comparative perspective, drawing from different jurisdictions and arbitration rules.

The day will also offer valuable networking opportunities over coffee breaks, a walking lunch, and a closing cocktail reception.
