Guillaume Rue is a Partner at Cairn Legal, a leading business law firm based in Brussels. Admitted to the Brussels Bar in 2002, he specializes in new technology law, offering comprehensive legal counsel on contractual, commercial, and corporate matters within the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT) sector. Guillaume has particular expertise in service contracts, software licensing, and the protection of programs and databases. He also practices data protection and intellectual property law, including copyright, trademarks, domain names, patents, and unfair competition.Guillaume regularly assists clients in structuring, drafting, and negotiating IT contracts and related projects, such as development agreements, service platforms, SLAs, licensing, distribution, and subcontracting arrangements. His practice extends to e-commerce and internet law, addressing issues such as electronic payments, digital signatures, online marketing, cookies, liability, and consumer protection, with a focus on both domestic and international aspects.
Beyond his transactional expertise, Guillaume has significant experience in international litigation, particularly in arbitration, where he acts as both counsel and arbitrator. His work often involves complex IT disputes, including failed projects and corporate conflicts within the IT sector.
