Esther is a Senior Associate in the arbitration and dispute resolution team in the Fieldfisher's Brussels office and a member of Fieldfisher's Africa Group practice.With over a decade of experience, Esther brings a wealth of expertise to resolving complex disputes and navigating intricate legal challenges. Her practice focuses on national and international arbitrations (ICC and CEPANI) subject to various laws (including Belgian law, French law, and OHADA) as well as on a broad range of high-profile commercial disputes before state courts, including in the fields of corporate, finance, insurance, contract and tort law. She also acts as secretary of Arbitral Tribunals in ICC and CEPANI's arbitrations and advises clients in mediation processes.
Esther has successfully represented clients in diverse sectors and industries (including construction, energy, mining, aviation, windfarms, banking and insurance sectors among others). She also has a solid experience in arbitration-related court proceedings (including setting-aside and (resisting) enforcement of arbitral awards) and in coordinating multi-jurisdictional proceedings.
Esther advises clients in French and English and is a member of the Belgian Centre for Arbitration and Mediation (CEPANI), the Luxembourg Arbitration Association (LAA), as well as CEPANI under 40. With her experience as research and teaching assistant at Université Catholique de Louvain and at New York University School of Law (NYU), Esther publishes articles in the field of public international law, European law and arbitration.
