Sophie is an experienced litigator, focusing on complex disputes both in state court and arbitration proceedings. She acts as counsel and as arbitrator.She handles matters in a broad variety of fields, such as contract & tort, construction law, post-M&A disputes, general business law.
In addition, she has specific expertise in insurance & reinsurance law. She mainly handles matters relating to major insurance losses under any type of insurances taken out by businesses (e.g. property, liability, credit insurance, financial & specialty lines, marine insurance, and reinsurance).
Sophie also advises on matters of private and public international law, such as jurisdictional immunities, interpretation & application of treaties, and conflict of laws.
She is recognised by legal directories for her ability to master highly complex disputes, her quick thinking and her technical excellence. She has a strong interest in mediation and has been an accredited mediator since 2014.
Sophie holds a master’s degree in law from the Université catholique de Louvain (2009) and a master’s degree in International Dispute Settlement (MIDS) from the University of Geneva and Graduate Institute (2010). She also obtained a certificate in Marine Insurance from Lloyd’s Academy (2022). She is currently pursuing a PhD in insurance law on a part-time basis at the Université catholique de Louvain.
