Maude Lebois is a founding partner of Gaillard Banifatemi Shelbaya Disputes, a law firm dedicated exclusively to international arbitration, established in 2021. Prior to this, she was a partner at Shearman & Sterling LLP, where she practiced in the international arbitration group from 2004.Maude has extensive experience representing States, State-owned entities, and private companies in international commercial and investment treaty arbitrations, both ad hoc (including under UNCITRAL Rules) and institutional (ICC, ICSID, LCIA). Her practice has a particular focus on disputes arising out of large-scale construction projects.
She has handled the full spectrum of claims typically encountered in complex construction disputes, especially in the oil and gas, petrochemical, mining, chemical, and infrastructure sectors, acting as counsel or arbitrator.
Maude is regularly featured in Jeune Afrique’s ranking of the 50 most influential business lawyers in francophone Africa, including in 2025. She serves as co-President of the Society of Construction Law (France) in 2025-2026.
