Aimery de Schoutheete has over 35 years of experience in business law at the Belgian law firm Liedekerke. He has Belgian citizenship.He has extensive experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, as well as in managing and conducting both domestic and international litigation proceedings before the Belgian courts, EU foreign jurisdictions, and arbitral tribunals (ICC, CEPANI and Swiss Arbitration Centre arbitrations, ad hoc proceedings). Over the past 20 years, he has focused more particularly on the commercial distribution area, as well as the natural resources (), mining, petrochemical, commodities, and agribusiness sectors. Aimery also has experience in the hospitality and construction sectors.
Aimery de Schoutheete is regularly appointed as an arbitrator in proceedings under the auspices of the ICC, CEPANI, or the Swiss Arbitration Center, whether as a sole arbitrator, co-arbitrator, or as president of the tribunal. He also acts as an arbitrator in investment arbitrations under the ICSID.
Aimery de Schoutheete joined Liedekerke in 1986 and became a partner in 1995. He was the Managing Partner of the firm for 10 years, from 2001 to 2010. He heads the Spanish Desk, the Italian Desk, and the Africa Practice Group at Liedekerke. He is also the founder and chairman of Liedekerke DRC, the firm's subsidiary based in Kinshasa, DRC, and of Liedekerke Great Lakes, the firm's subsidiary in Kigali, Rwanda.
