Annet van Hooft is an independent arbitrator and counsel based in Paris. She is admitted to practice in both common and civil law jurisdictions (New York, Rotterdam, and Paris). She set up her own firm after having practiced for more than 20 years at major U.S. and U.K. law firms in Brussels, New York, and Paris, and having been a Counsel at the ICC Court of Arbitration. Annet has acted as Arbitrator or Counsel in more than 100 international cases. She is regularly appointed in cases where the dispute involves matters of construction, energy, life sciences, and corporate law, and she accepts appointments for proceedings conducted in English, French, Dutch, or German. Annet is a former Vice-Chair of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR, a co-chair of the Paris Bar Open Commission on International Arbitration and an Honorary President of the Bucharest International Arbitration Court (BIAC). She is the co-author of ‘Arbitrating under the 2012 ICC Rules: An Introductory User’s Guide’ (published by Kluwer Law International). Annet is listed as a ‘Thought Leader’ by Who’s Who Legal since 2020 and is described as having “become one of the best arbitrators of the Paris and international market”. Chambers have ranked her as a band 2 Arbitrator in France, reporting that she “is a very experienced arbitrator, and [that] it is a pleasure to work with her”. In 2023, Legal 500 included Annet in their inaugural International Arbitration power list for France.
