Professionele ervaring

As a lawyer, Arie has acquired significant experience in complex cross-border and high-stakes corporate litigation, combining deep knowledge of legal principles, strategic insight, and excellent court reputation. Arie advises on all matters of insolvency law, both for debtors and creditors. He is an expert on ESG-legislation, with a focus on liability aspects and activism. Arie has represented shareholders and company directors, both out of court or within the context of legal proceedings.

He complements legal acumen with a unique understanding of business realities and the economic and political landscape, acquired during his tenure as head of the legal department of Belgium’s largest employers’ organization (VBO-FEB). His legal expertise is furthermore nourished by his membership of the Belgian Corporate Governance Committee and the High Council for the Economic Professions.

Arie has written numerous scientific contributions on matters of corporate law, insolvency law, ESG-legislation, and general legal theory. He is editor-in-chief of the leading Belgian business law journal (Revue de droit commercial belge / Tijdschrift voor Belgisch Handelsrecht). In addition, he regularly speaks at legal seminars and conferences.
