Bruno is a Partner in the International Arbitration department at Liedekerke. He is also in charge of the firm’s International Sanctions team and co-heads its ESG Solutions team.He has represented clients in international arbitrations subject to international law, the laws of England & Wales, Switzerland, Lebanon, Qatar, the UAE, Kuwait, and Belgium, among others, and under various institutions and rules including ICC, LCIA, SIAC, ICSID, and the UNCITRAL Rules.
Bruno has a knack for complex technical issues. He has acted for clients in disputes involving complex banking issues, financial statements and frauds analysis, the Euroclear clearing system, but also IT engineering, geotechnical engineering and hydraulic engineering and international regulatory issues in the pharmaceutical sector. In the construction and energy sector, Bruno often represents clients in international disputes relating to large infrastructure projects involving delay and disruption claims.
In addition to his international arbitration practice, Bruno represents clients in cross-border disputes and arbitration-related court proceedings in Belgium and abroad. He has recently acted for and against investors, sovereign States and International Organizations in enforcement and setting aside proceedings raising novel and cutting-edge questions of international arbitration and international law.
Bruno is also involved in academia. He is a Guest Lecturer in International Investment Law and Investment Treaty Arbitration at KU Leuven University, and previously taught Private International Law at the Free University of Brussels (ULB). In parallel to his work at the firm, he is pursuing a PhD in international law.
He studied in Louvain (Belgium) and Geneva (Switzerland) and obtained an LL.M from Columbia Law School in New York (USA). He is fluent in English, French and Spanish, and has a good knowledge of Dutch.
